Ask what the writer actually did
A review may be based on public documents, an account walkthrough, a funded test or a mixture of these. The author should say which. Screenshots of a homepage do not establish withdrawal performance, and a claim to have “tested everything” needs a reproducible record.
Inspect the score
A useful rating explains its criteria, weights and evidence. It should show how missing information affects the result and whether commercial arrangements can influence placement. A decimal score without a visible method can imply precision that the research does not support.
Read the negative findings
Look for specific constraints rather than generic disadvantages. “Could have more games” is less useful than a documented withdrawal cap or an unresolved discrepancy in the contracting entity. The evidence should be linked and dated so a reader can inspect it.
Check the relationship behind the link
An affiliate relationship can pay the publisher when a reader takes a qualifying action. That relationship should be disclosed near the relevant recommendation or link. Disclosure does not by itself prove editorial independence; the publication’s actual method and correction practices still matter.
Check for an impossible history
A newly published site should not imply years of testing it did not perform. Changing the date in a title is not evidence of a new research pass. A source-check date should correspond to an actual check, and a changed conclusion should be explained when it materially affects readers.
