Wagering Requirements Explained + Bonus Calculator

A mathematical explanation of turnover conditions, contribution rates and the limits of a headline multiplier.

Identify what is multiplied

A wagering multiplier is meaningless until its base is defined. An offer might apply to the bonus alone, to a deposit plus bonus, or to another specified amount. The same multiplier can therefore create very different turnover conditions.

For an illustrative 100-unit bonus with a 30-times requirement, the nominal turnover is 3,000 units if the rules apply only to that bonus. If the base instead includes a 100-unit deposit and the same bonus, the nominal turnover becomes 6,000 units. These examples describe arithmetic, not an offer from a listed brand.

Contribution changes the effective requirement

If a game contributes only 20% of the amount staked, a 3,000-unit qualifying-turnover target corresponds to 15,000 units of actual stakes in that game. Other restrictions can prevent that simple calculation from being sufficient, including excluded games, maximum stakes and expiry times.

Arithmetic only. This does not predict losses, eligibility or whether a condition can be completed.

Turnover is not the required starting balance

Turnover counts stakes, including money that can be staked again after a return. It is neither a promise that a particular balance will last nor a guaranteed cost. Outcomes vary, and a player can lose the balance before completing a condition.

Record the expiry, eligible products, maximum stake, withdrawal cap and consequences of requesting a withdrawal early. A promotion can be optional while general account conditions still apply. Do not treat the word “free” as proof that there are no conditions.

Compare two offers with the same headline multiplier

Illustrative rule Multiplier base Qualifying turnover
30× a 100-unit bonus 100 3,000
30× a 100-unit deposit plus 100-unit bonus 200 6,000
30× bonus, with 20% game contribution 100 3,000 qualifying units, requiring 15,000 actual stake units on that game

The multiplier is identical in all three examples, but the practical requirement is not. This is why a bonus comparison needs the base and game contribution as well as the advertised “×” number.

Zero wagering does not answer every bonus question

An offer without bonus rollover may still have eligibility, expiry, maximum cashout, game or claim restrictions. General account terms may separately regulate withdrawal of an unplayed deposit. Keep those conditions separate: a deposit-turnover rule is not automatically the same as a bonus-wagering requirement.

Likewise, a maximum-bet condition is a limit on individual stakes while the bonus is active; it is not a cap on total qualifying turnover. Record its currency and whether different game categories have different limits. The complete bonus terms checklist covers these non-arithmetic conditions.

Cashback and rakeback use different calculations

A cashback percentage can apply to defined qualifying losses, while rakeback may be linked to eligible play and theoretical house edge. Neither should be entered into this calculator as a wagering multiplier. The BetFury review describes a cashback structure; Gamdom and Stake illustrate activity-dependent reward models.
